Part of the Awakening Heart Community at Dallas Meditation Center, Interbeing Sangha and Earth Holder Sangha meditation practice are inspired by the tradition of Plum Village and Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh.
Interbeing Sangha
Interbeing Sangha is a meditation group practicing and studying the teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh and others who practice in the tradition of Plum Village. The weekly practice includes a brief check-in, seated meditation, dharma talk or study, and sharing.
The Five Mindfulness Trainings
On the first Wednesday of each month, we recite the Five Mindfulness Trainings during the gathering and discuss them.
Earth Holder Sangha
The Earth Holder Sangha is the branch of the Plum Village tree that applies Thich Nhat Hanh’s core teachings on engaged Buddhism, mindful living, racial and social justice, and inter-being with Mother Earth at this time of ecological crisis. The Earth Holder Sangha at Dallas Meditation Center is a part of the Interbeing Sangha and follows the same format but with readings, presentations, and discussions geared toward environmental stewardship, issues of climate change, social justice, and racism. They meet on the fourth Wednesday of the month.
Open to all levels of meditation experience, from beginners to more experienced meditators. We welcome persons of any spiritual tradition, including those not part of any spiritual or faith tradition.

Dallas Meditation Center Book Club – 2ND and 4TH Thursday evenings IN PERSON
On the second and fourth Thursdays of every month. IN-PERSON
7:00-8:30 pm
We meet in the Lotus Room at the Dallas Meditation Center.
The book club will focus on mindful group discussion of texts that help us better understand Buddhist teachings, philosophy and spirituality.
Facilitated by Matthew Hill.
The Book Club will begin reading “Why Buddhism is True” by Robert Wright on May 9!

Mimikia, an amazing Korean craft tutorial YouTuber offers an easy-to-understand tutorial. You could make a beautiful vase and/or Lotus flower for your mother! Interested? Please check out her channel.
- Art Sale: Dallas Meditation Center will be displaying beautiful art made by our Mindful Community Members for sale! See if you can find the perfect gift for your mother (figure), all the while supporting the local artists!
- Bake Sale: There will be delicious baked goods available for you to purchase. You can eat it on the spot or take it home! I would have a hard time resisting goodies like our Sourdough Chocolate cupcakes!
- Labyrinth Walk: Take a moment to relax and reflect with our short, self-guided walking meditation on our mini labyrinth. It’s a peaceful way to unwind and find some tranquility during your visit.

Xinyi Xan is an Asian American creative chimera and founder of Don’t Be Strangers, a podcast and global community on a mission to create deeper conversations and more vulnerable connections.
Don’t Be Strangers provides intentional resources, events, and community for curious and optimistic students of life to fight adult loneliness and the myth that “making friends is hard!”
She considers having a deeper relationship with oneself the key to more profound connections with others. Xinyi also published her first book, “How to Talk to Anyone for Introverts,” because she knows how important her readers are and believes that their conversations with others are vital to the well-being of this world.

Embodied Arts – Sunday, May 12, 2024, 7-9 pm

Embodied Arts: a mindful movement and meditation drawing practice.
During this workshop, we will be guided in seated meditation, gentle movement, and a 35+ minute practice of using full-body bilateral movements to make large-scale drawings of emotional release using crayons and roll paper. This practice is guided through music and vocal cues. At the end of the practice, participants will take an “art walk” to observe the art of fellow practitioners in creative connection. There will be time for reflection and community within the 2-hour container.
Embodied Arts is led by artist, educator, and certified Mindfulness instructor Adam George. The meditation portion of the workshop is led by Dallas Meditation Center director Ji Yoon Lee.
Bring water and a creative spirit! Wear black or dark clothing that you do not mind rolling around on the ground or possibly getting dirty.

A meditation & teaching group for Young Adults (20’s & 30’s) facilitated by Young Adult co-facilitators. Each gathering includes beginner-friendly walking and sitting meditation, a song or two, Dharma teachings, sharing & discussion.
We come together to practice mindfulness in order to take care of ourselves, nourish happiness and contribute to building a healthier and more compassionate society. Practicing mindfulness, concentration and insight enables us to cultivate tolerance, non-discrimination, understanding and compassion in ourselves and the world.
Part of the Awakening Heart Community at Dallas Meditation Center, our meditation practice is inspired by the tradition of Plum Village and Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh. Our practice is based on the Five Mindfulness Trainings, which are ethical guidelines that offer concrete practices of true love and compassion, and a path towards a life in harmony with each other and the Earth. These guidelines are the foundation of our lives and represent our ideal of service.

**Family Nights: Parents know their child best, so it is up to them to decide if they want the child to practice in the grand hall with us or in the lotus room where we will offer children’s activities and stream the meditation and dharma talk.

This event includes walking meditation, conscious breathing, seated meditation, and sound meditation. The progression through these practices will support a movement into deep stillness, helping you to clear out what is no longer needed and to start fresh and new in the present.
Meditation Mats (Zabuton), meditation cushions (Zafu), and blankets are provided. Please bring your own if you prefer. Chairs are available.
All ticket sales are final unless the event is canceled by the facilitator.

Andy is a meditation teacher and yoga teacher who has been teaching in the Dallas area since 2004. He has been facilitating classes and retreats at the Dallas Meditation Center since 2010.
