Dear Friends,

After consulting the board of directors, teachers, staff and facilitators at the Dallas Meditation Center, in accordance with recommendations by Dallas County Health and Human Services recommended precautions around the Coronavirus (COVID-19), we will close the Center for a week beginning March 14. Our classes, meditations and group meetings will not be held at the center from March 14 to March 21. Some of our gatherings and classes will be streamed online during this time at our YouTube channel

We will use this week to plan the next best step to take in order to keep the community healthy and safe. I had no idea when I chose the March theme — Safely Together — that we would be given the 'opportunity' to practice being safe in such a fraught environment. Please look for updates regarding the schedule on www.DallasMeditationCenter.com, our YouTube channel, our Facebook page, Meetup and Instagram.

During this week, I encourage you to find creative ways to practice on your own. There are many excellent dharma talks at our Dharma Talk archive. On that same page you can find wonderful songs, meditations and videos.

In addition to the sessions that we will be live-streaming, please also take a look at our new, Beginner Friendly Meditation Videos, called MINDFUL MOMENTS we have archived from our YouTube Livestream Program. Plum Village has a whole page of apps covering a broad range of topics.

You might like to follow the practices of the sanghas you usually attend during the time when you would be at the meditation center. That could include a bit of walking meditation, a quiet sitting mediation and listening to a dharma talk from our websiteor a talk by Thich Nhat Hanh. Many of Thay's talks are on the website listed above and also on YouTube.

Some of you may be experiencing anxiety. Wherever you are, I am sending wishes for health and ease to both you and your loved ones. I encourage you to stay virtually connected to loved ones near and far-let's minimize the isolation even while taking precautions to keep everyone safe.

During this time, we will be increasing our in-house cleaning protocols, and we want you to know that we are paying close attention to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) for any updates.

Please call me at 214-729-7040 if you have questions or just want to talk to a friend. I'm here for you.

A Lotus for you, A Buddha to be,
